5 Tips That Will Make Your OBGYN Case List Unique & Defendable
This exam is the only thing between you and your OBGYN Certification. 50% of your exam is based on your case list. You created it and you are compelled to defend it. You should know it “cold” before you walk into the exam room. While a good case list will not necessarily guarantee success, a bad one will go a long way towards a failing result! Here are the 5 most common errors that candidates make when constructing their case list:
Error #1 – Creating the Case List at the last minute
Solution #1 – Construct that case while it’s still fresh in your mind, within two weeks of current patient management
Error #2 – Writing too much on the case list.
Solution #2 – Write down only the main points so the examiner has something to ask you.
Error #3 – The weight of the uterus and size of all the adnexal masses are not included.
Solution #3 – Make sure the weight of all hysterectomy specimens and the size of all adnexal masses are provided.
Error #4 -Writing out the entire path report.
Solution #4 – For GYN cases, extensively abbreviate the histology report.
Error #5 – Always double check your information and be consistent.
Solution #5 – Make sure the length of stay on the OB and GYN cases is correct and consistent throughout your case list (typically consider it as the number of nights spent in hospital).
